Terms of Eligibility:

  • All recipients of MEND services must have household incomes at or below the federal poverty guidelines (state guidelines for food). Also, clients must live in the MEND service area, which include: Pacoima, Arleta, Sylmar, Lake View Terrace, San Fernando, North Hills, and Mission Hills. 
  • *Clients living in Sun Valley and Panorama City who meet the income guidelines qualify for food and clothing assistance ONLY.

EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTION

  • MEND Center: 

             Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: 

             8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

             Saturday (every 2nd and 4th Sat. of the month): 

             9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.


  • Please call the MEND Reception Desk to ask about required income levels for food program eligibility and communities served: (818) 897-2443

  • Need to bring: Picture ID; Proof of current address and family income, birth certificates for children.

  • Restrictions: Can receive assistance once a month from one site only; box includes 3-day supply of food.

  • Additional Info: During non-program hours and on Saturdays, bread & fresh produce may be available at the MEND Center for those in need.

  • Our Lady of Peace Church (Sepulveda):

             Friday (2nd and 4th Fri. of the month):

             9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Hansen Dam:

             Hot meals served every Thursday:

             10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

             Location: Meals are provided at the Hansem Dam Picnic Area (across from the                                swimming pool).  


            In addition to the Meal Program non-perishable food items and clothing are distributed.

Please Remember: Raffle participants must be present at 9:45 a.m. sharp in the medical reception lobby. The raffle will be conducted by MEND staff; winners will be selected on the spot. If you are not selected, please attend the next raffle.
  • Acupuncture

  • Services: Basic services provided on a very limited basis. Referrals are given for more specialized services.
  • Donation: $10.00 for each clinic visit. Donations are suggested amounts only. No one is turned away due to inability to offer a donation.

Dental

Dental Clinic Manager: Denise Sanchez

  • Appointments: Dental appointments made only after completion of an intake interview. To obtain an intake interview, please enter monthly raffle.
  • Emergency Visits: Patients with severe pain may walk in during any clinic day for immediate care. Must be at dental clinic window by 8:00 am. Tuesday through Friday. First come, first served.
  • Raffle:  Dental appointments are raffled off on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  To enter raffle, fill out a raffle ticket by phone or in person. Please Remember: Do not arrive the day of the raffle. The Dental Raffle will be conducted by MEND staff; winners will be notified by phone. If you are not contacted within five days from the raffle drawing, please fill out a new ticket for the following raffle. Please Remember: Do not arrive the day of the raffle.

Multi-Benefit Screening

  • Multi-Benefit Screening: MEND is now offering Multi-Benefit Screenings through a collaboration with El Nido Family Source Center and the One-E-App benefits database. This is a one-step application process which screens one's eligibility on over 20 benefit programs in the state of California. The Multi-Benefit Screening is a free and available to all residents of L.A. City (excludes San Fernando and Burbank).
  • Benefits available through the One-E-App system include:
         Food Stamps
             Medi-Cal/ Medi-Care
             Healthy Kids/ Families
             Low Cost Auto Insurance
             Utility Bill Assistant
             Earn Income Tax Credit assessments
             WIC and more!

             Multi-Benefit Screening:

  • Home Visiting: Volunteers visit with recipient families in their homes, assess their needs, and make referrals.
