Click Here to Stop Summer Hunger
You don’t have to look very far to see the devastating impact of the poor economy. In neighborhoods right here in the San Fernando Valley, children are going to bed hungry every night.
Tiffany Gonzalez’s spouse recently lost his job. Their 3 children know what it feels like to go to bed hungry. But they also know what it feels like to walk proudly out of MEND’s Food Bank with enough nutritious food to make it a few more days without that empty feeling in their bellies.
You can help stop the hunger.
Your gift of $25 to MEND—Meet Each Need with Dignity—will be doubled by a matching gift, and will provide sixty desperate people with a nutritious meal. Almost 90% of the MEND food program recipients are children.
MEND is a nonprofit anti-poverty agency started in a local garage over 35 years ago by a group of volunteers. Every month MEND provides 42,000 of your Valley neighbors with food, clothing, and medical services. Only 4% of our costs go to administrative expenses, so 96 cents out of every dollar raised goes directly to our programs to help the neediest in our community.
You can help stop the hunger.
With matching gifts from several corporate partners, every $25.00 gift will become $50.00 and will provide meals for 22 qualified recipients instead of 11.
So please act now. We need your donation, in whatever amount you can afford, so we can continue to feed our local children this summer. Summer donations usually drop but the need doesn’t go on vacation.
MEND receives no government funding. We rely on small donations from thousands of caring neighbors just like you.
You really can help stop the hunger. Send your check today.
Sincerely,
Past Board President and Fundraising Volunteer
P.S. Remember that your quick response means that your gift will be matched so that you can feed twice as many hungry people: $25 will become $50 and feed 22 children and adults, $100 will become $200 and help 87; Your support helps provide an emergency box of bread, fruit, staples and vegetables to families like the Gonzalez’s.
